Sisters Hold All Cluster Gathering in Preparation for Chapter

On October 22nd the Sisters of Divine Providence held an all cluster gathering as part of their pre-Chapter preparations. Open to the work of the Holy Spirit, they gathered to listen and share with each other, grow in their capacity to acknowledge and affirm each other’s gifts, and continued the pre-Chapter work they had begun.

After reviewing the pre-Chapter work accomplished and in progress, they hosted Sister Carol Zinn, SSJ, Executive Director of LCWR to clarify the purposes of a General Chapter and help identify and distinguish what is Chapter material/agenda and what is not. Sister Carol’s presentation was followed by lively discussions on the implications for the congregation’s on-going pre-Chapter work. The all cluster gathering continued with contemplative conversations exploring themes that surfaced from the June 2022 General Assembly.

They also prepared for the processes of confirming Delegates to the General Chapter and of recommending Sisters for discernment to elected leadership. The recommended Sisters will participate in a discernment weekend December 2-4 at Moye Center in Castroville.

Moving forward, the Sisters will continue monthly discussions to advance their exploration of emerging trends of the mission of women religious, and to understand the shifts in religious life that impact the congregation as they collaboratively seek the common good. They will also focus on the roles of elected leadership and the qualities of membership. They ask friends and family to pray with them for the graces needed during this time of preparation and for the Chapter, January 29-February 5, 2023.

Special thank you to the committee responsible for hosting this important event. It is always a gift when the Sisters gather.
