As stated in their 2017 – 2023 Chapter Statement, the Sisters of Divine Providence stand firmly with all who hear the cry of pain and anguish of the poor, immigrants, women and Earth. Therefore, we proudly share a recent pastoral statement that describes who is being affected by the termination of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). This statement was written by long-time organizer and friend of the congregation, Ernesto Cortes, Jr. He showcases two DACA young adults and draws attention to the unfortunate existence of nativist sentiment in our country and the need to change hearts and educate minds to accept all as brothers and sisters. He reminds us of the story of our country: one of immigrants and migrants.
