Description

Sister Mary Generosa Callahan, CDP, traces the roots of the Congregation of Divine Providence from Saint Jean-de-Bassel to their home in San Antonio, Texas over a period of seventy-eight years. The work contains special features such as detail to little known facts on important aspects of the history of the Church in the Southwest, desires of the immigrants to have schools specific to their nationalities, and the problems the Sisters faced in Louisiana with segregated schools in post-Reconstruction America. It is the first published chronology of the Sisters of Divine Providence, blessed by Archbishop Robert E. Lucey in 1954. (1955) $10.00
