Sister Lourdes Leal, CDP, was born and raised in San Antonio and is an alumna of Providence Catholic School and Our Lady of the Lake University. She professed vows in the Congregation of Divine Providence on June 22, 1961. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Speech Pathology from OLLU and a Ph.D. in Communication Disorders from the University of Oklahoma.
Throughout her years in ministry, Sister Lourdes has served in San Antonio’s Northwest Deanery, Mexico, the Rio Grande Valley and at Our Lady of the Lake University. She has also demonstrated a deep compassion for refugees, immigrants and their families through her involvement with the Interfaith Welcome Coalition of San Antonio. She serves as a mentor to students in the Spanish-language Spirituality and Spiritual Direction program at Oblate School of Theology and as a member of the OLLU Board of Trustees.
Sister Lourdes served on the CDP General Council from 1993 to 1999, 2011 to 2017and from 2017 to 2023. Looking forward to meeting new people and sharing faith experiences.
