September 13, 2017 marked the 30th anniversary of St. John Paull II’s papal visit to San Antonio, Texas. Sr. Charlene Wedelich, CDP organized this memorable event with Robert Aguirre and her dear friend Msgr. Lawrence Stuebben, who passed away on March 28 of this year. A Mass was celebrated and dedicated to Father Larry on this 30th anniversary at St. John Paul II High School. The Most Reverend Michael Boulette served as presider and homilist.
Sr. Charlene read the first reading. According to the program prepared for this Mass, “the readings came from the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A, and they were the readings from the Papal Mass on Sunday, September 13, 1987. Interestingly, that Mass was the only Sunday Mass during the Pope’s visit to the United States and Canada.” The music was provided by St. John Paul II Catholic High School liturgical music ministry. It was a special night for Sr. Charlene.
