Response to Public Charge Rule

Congregation of Divine Providence Responds to Public Charge Rule

The Sisters of the Congregation of Divine Providence stand in solidarity with Catholic Charities USA to eliminate the Department of Homeland Security’s final rule on public charge. This rule will ultimately deny immigrants Medicaid and any other types of public assistance which will increase public health risks among families and communities. As mentioned in our Chapter Statement, we Sisters of Divine Providence embrace the calling “to hear the cry of pain and anguish of the poor, immigrants, women, and Earth.”

We pledge our support to encourage the rescindment of this rule that is putting the lives of many children and families at risk.
